And right about now, I'm sure Rob Portman and Pat Toomey are busy calling all the lobbyists Kerry's cancelled meetings with. Seriously, this is a good move on Kerry's part, and in a just world, it would put serious pressure on the other 11 members of the so-called "Super Committee" to follow suit. But it also raises a further?and eternal?question. Kerry says he doesn't "want the appearance of money being associated with anything I do on this." But wouldn't that rationale apply equally to any legislation any elected official ever works on?
